ABOUT US
I grew up in the 1980’s in a small town in paradise. We were the classic atomic family and my mother the ultimate Stepford wife, living in a John Updike novel. At the time her aesthetic could be best described as American psycho minimalism meets Laura Ashley, which don’t get me wrong, is pretty fucking awesome, but she also suffered from a vehement disdain for anything pre 1981. I vividly remember the first time I was allowed to purchase a garment for myself as a treat, while we were on vacation. It was a small town mall, and in those days the retail landscape in Canada resembled more of that of the USSR than the neighbouring USA: this was 1992 and the coolest place to shop was Le Château. I returned with a polyester button down with vertical stripes of varying shades of brown, to which my mother responded “that’s ugly”. From this memory, my inspiration for Ugly Ugly Oxen Free was born.
Vintage. Cheeky. Fun.
